Due to some stupid EU ruling (yes, them wankers again), I have to explain to you what cookies are and what they're doing on this site and your computer.

What are cookies?

Cookies are lovely biscuit-y things you can get from ASDA, Tesco, Lidl or Greggs. They come in many different flavours from plain to chocolately - sometimes even covered in icing and Smarties.

However, the cookies that are in question are basically little text documents on your computer that "remember" things - think of them as post-it notes. So when you login on here a cookie gets placed onto your computer that tells your computer you are logged in - so when you return to the site you don't have to log in again. Understand?

What cookies are on this site?

Google Analytics
These cookies are used to collect information about how visitors use our site. We use the information to compile reports and to help us improve the site. The cookies collect information in an anonymous form, including the number of visitors to the site, where vistors have come to the site from and the pages they visited.

To remember what country you're from so your adverts are targeted to your estimated region. (No point living in London and getting adverts for "Locals in Tabago and Trinidad", well unless you're after some good smoke *cough*)

To track your IP address only for the purposes of tracking unique user sessions and providing you with custom-tailored content.

To recognise returning users, provide relevant content, measure traffic and activity on eBay, monitor and improve our services and protect against fraud.

Are they needed?

Yes. Well for everything to work correctly, then yes.

Can I turn them off?

Yes. In your internet options of your browser.

Is all this necessary?

From the 26th May 2012, yes. It is. Why? Because of the fuck-ups over in Brussels, ruining yet another thing.

If you don't like it, then go complain to them - quick Google search will bring up their contact details.
